Call for Guest Artists

Opens: November 5, 2018
Deadline: January 15, 2019

In order to discover new potential collaborators, the Boston New Music Initiative is announcing a call for guest artists to be programmed as part of BNMI’s eleventh season. Incorporated in 2010, BNMI aims to advance the careers of its members in the field of new music by serving as a resource for networking, professional development, commissioning, collaboration, and programming. The call is open for any solo, duet or trio act. The competition is open to all performers with no restrictions. Performers need not be based in the Boston area, however, local performers are especially encouraged to apply. BNMI is unable to provide travel or lodging for the duration of the rehearsal and performance period.

At least one guest artist will be chosen, and any chosen artist(s) will perform on a concert to be presented in early 2020. Chosen performers will perform one work of their choice by a living composer, as well as at least one additional work chosen by BNMI. The winning performer(s) will be granted a stipend of at least $150 per person for performance at the concert. Performers wishing to be considered will provide a sample recording, preferably live, of a late 20th or 21st century work. A score of the performed work must also be submitted.

We strongly encourage all performers to download and review the BNMI Submission Guide ahead of submitting to this competition.
