Marketing Associate - multiple positions available
The Boston New Music Initiative, Inc. seeks qualified and interested volunteers for Marketing Associates positions within the organization. The positions are Open Until Filled and review of applicants shall begin immediately. These positions are excellent opportunities for aspiring professionals in the music business and performing arts industry to gain valuable marketing experience while serving as prominent additions to the team in a rapidly-growing non-profit music corporation.
Staff positions are volunteer positions by default and typically require approximately five hours per week. As the organization does not maintain a physical office location, most responsibilities can be performed online with a flexible schedule. The organization is sensitive and accommodating to busy schedules with advance notice. College credit for internships may be available depending upon each school’s internship requirements.
All staff positions with BNMI are volunteer positions by default and typically require an average of five hours per week or less.
Description: Marketing Associates report to the Director of Publicity and Marketing and are responsible for assisting the Director with day-to-day marketing operations and specific marketing projects and events. Note: specific duties will be assigned to each Marketing Associate according to each associate’s areas of interest and qualifications (when possible). A sample of potential duties are listed below.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating and distributing press releases to various media outlets; create and update press kits and other PR/marketing materials (ads, fliers, websites, etc.)
- Serve on Marketing Committee to brainstorm, draft, and execute marketing projects to continue promoting and furthering the Organization’s brand
- Coordinate with Artistic, Production, and Development Committees to coordinate and provide PR, marketing, and advertising help for concerts, fundraising, professional development events throughout the course of the season
- Oversee and maintain online box office and door ticket sales for Organization concerts and events
- Update Organization news and information on Organization’s website as necessary
- Maintain and/or supervise Organization's activity on specific social networking websites
- Additional public relations, advertising, or marketing support as requested by Director of Publicity and Marketing
Qualifications: Background in marketing within the performing arts preferred. Experience in concert or event planning a bonus. Web and graphics design a major plus but not required. Applicants should be organized and efficient, and able to work independently and proactively. Strong computer skills are required, including an ability to work with or quickly gain a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
